Roberto FORÉS VESES

A poet of sounds, sculpting the orchestra's sonority

In 2012, Roberto Forés Veses was appointed chief conductor and artistic director of the Orchestre d'Auvergne. In addition to their performances at home in France, the orchestra has completed triumphant tours worldwide, particularly in Japan with harpist Naoko Yoshino and in Brazil.

Born in Valencia (Spain), Roberto Forés Veses studied orchestral conducting at the Accademia Musicale Pescarese and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where he received his Master Degree under Leif Segerstam. In 2006, he won the Orvieto Conducting Competition in Italy with a special prize from the jury. In 2007, he was also one of the winners of the Evgeny Svetlanov Conducting Competition in Luxembourg.

Roberto Fores Veses is an extremely versatile conductor, devoted to both symphonic and operatic repertoire. In 2008 he made his debut at the Teatro Regio de Torino conducting Salome and Elisir d'amore, and at the Bolshoi with Macbeth. In the following years he conducted several operas in France, including Il viaggio a Reims and Don Pasquale, La Cenerentola, Lakmé, Die Zauberflöte, L'italiana in Algeri, The Barber of Seville. He also conducted Cosi fan tutte, La Finta Giardiniera and La Bohème, in Avignon, Vichy, Helsinki, Rouen and Orvietto. He recently conducted the world premiere of B.R. Earl's La regina dei capelli d'oro at the Stresa Festival in Italy.

Roberto Forés Veses has conducted many orchestras worldwide, including NHK Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Prague Philharmonia, Saint-Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Lyon, Orquestra de Valencia, Orchestre de Picardie, Orchestre philharmonique de Nice, Orchestre National de Montpellier, Het Residentie Orchestra, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Saint-Etienne, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Sinfonia Finlandia, Asturias Symphony Orchestra, Russian State Symphony Orchestra, Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra and Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto.

He regularly performs at many prestigious international festivals, including La Folle Journée de Nantes and Tokyo, La Chaise-Dieu, Murten Classics, Stresa Festival, Les Flâneries musicales de Reims, Festival de la Vézère, Festival des Monts de la Madeleine, Festival de Polignac, Les Grandes Heures de Cluny, Festival Bach en Combrailles, Berlioz Festival.
